In almost all the movies where parents leave their children alone at home, a house-party is hosted by the children. The Home Alone movie series has been another big example of what all can happen if a child is left on his own.
But in South Carolina, when Mr. and Mrs. Schoonover left their four daughters at home for one week and went on a vacation alone, they had no idea as to what were they going to come back home to.
It is a story like no other, with a plan that no other group of siblings would have thought of.
Residing in South Carolina, Karen and Chip Schoonover have a very loving and blessed family with four daughters. They had a cozy little house near North Myrtle Beach and all of them had been living together under the same roof.
Chip and Karen had decided that they would name each of their daughters starting with the letter 'H'. Heather is the eldest daughter of the couple, Hollie being the second eldest, then Halice and Haley. The girls had been desperately waiting for their parents to go on a vacation so that they could start working on their plan, which was an unimaginable one.
Even though the Schoonovers lived near the North Myrtle Beach, which has been an ultimate holiday spot for tourists, the family always planned vacations to other places. They always liked getting some time away from the usual life every now and then.
This time though, the daughters decided that they would only send their parents for the vacation because they had made an altogether different plan for themselves. Karen and Chip had always thought that they have a very special bond with their daughters and they shared everything with each other, but they were soon going to realize it was all wrong.
Karen and Chip had agreed upon going on a vacation alone because they had thought that the daughters were now grown up and responsible enough to take care of the house and handle the responsibilities for one week. But they were soon going to see the unimaginable after returning from their vacation.
The sisters had agreed upon a plan which was going to change everything. And the person to have devised this plan was Hollie, the second elder sister of the four. She had convinced all the other sisters to be a part of this life-changing-plan.
Hollie, Halice, and Haley were young and still in their teens, Heather had been married and lived at a different place. But that did not stop her from being a part of the plan. Her sisters contacted her and told her what they had planned, and she came running to her home to see what her younger sisters were actually up to.
The sisters decided not to tell their parents about Heather coming over to the house, in order to not give away any hint of the plans that they had made. The couple was all set to leave for the vacation on one side, and the sisters were ready to set their plan into action on the other side.
Since Hollie was the mastermind behind the plan, she had decided upon something. She wanted whatever they would do for these seven days to be recorded and therefore she asked Haley to set up a camera in the house.
The camera had been set up, and the girls were then unaware that their decision of setting up the camera and recording their plan would make them famous. They had planned something huge which had many layers to it, making it one of the biggest things of their lives.
As soon as Karen and Chip were out of the house, the girls sprang into action. They had decided to make this week the most memorable week to date. They also knew that what they had decided upon was not going to be easy, but they wanted to give it a shot.
Hollie loved being in front of the camera, and she was so excited to bring the plan into action. Haley, on the other hand, was camera shy and was comfortable being behind it. But after what they had planned, they were all going to be super-famous and their faces would be known by all the people who would see their video.
The Schoonovers were a middle-class family and Karen and Chip had worked very hard all through their lives to make as much money as they could, in order to give the best life possible to their daughters.
The couple had dreamed for very long to take a nice vacation, and now they finally got the chance to go on one. And this was the one time that they were leaving their daughters alone and entrusting them with the responsibility of the house.
Usually, all parents just hope that their children would keep from destroying the whole house while the parents are away. But Karen and Chip had no such thought. They trusted their daughters and knew they would take care. But when they got back, they got a surprise that really blew their minds away.
While Hollie and Haley were inclined towards art, Hollie wanted to be a singer or an actress. Heather, on the other hand, had been great at academics and was a post-graduate. Halice always looked forward to Heather and had taken admission at the Coastal Carolina University.
Each sister was different in her own way, and now they had planned something together, which was very big. All four, with their different nature and character, were going to be under one roof, giving way to one same plan which was something the parents had never imagined could be possible.
Heather had moved inland with her husband after marriage, but she had come back home for seven days, just so they could work on the plan. It was something that they had dreamed of since their childhood days and that is why it meant a lot to all four of them.
The Schoonover family has not been a part of the North Myrtle Beach community since forever. All four kids of Karen and Chip were born in Seminole, Florida and a major part of their childhood was spent their. But when they moved to North Myrtle, they felt an instant connection and always felt like they belonged there.
After relocating to North Myrtle Beach, the girls really felt like this was the place they were really meant to be at and they were so attached to this home of theirs since they had been in the same place since the day they came to North Myrtle. And now that they had the house all to themselves, they knew exactly what they wanted to do.
The girls had decided to give their parents a Christmas gift by doing a makeover of the whole house while the parents were away on a vacation. It was not just cleaning and shifting of furniture that the girls had decided upon. They had planned a step ahead of all this.
The daughters had really taken a big task in their pocket to be completed. None of them had ever been a part of the renovation of a house before and therefore, it was really uncertain and dicey if they would be able to pull out the task until Christmas or not.
The first step of the plan was to start cleaning up and take out all the extra stuff that was not needed at home, or to say, was actually junk. They had thought that it was a task of a few hours, but the work took them almost the whole day..and so one day had gone by.
The second day was dedicated to removing the old and rugged carpets from the rooms. It felt like the renovation task had actually begun now, and it was not an easy one. But the daughters really wanted to surprise their parents, so they were adamant about working super hard.
The girls were really having a tough time moving the furniture. There was so much stuff inside the house which was not required and served no purpose. And the plan was a long one, so they decided that a little help wouldn't hurt anyone. Hollie and Haley invited their friends over to come and help them in their plan.
The girls had decided that if they were going to do a makeover of their house, it should definitely be the most recent decor. Hollie had put in a lot of effort to design the most recent decor for the house since she was the most creative among the sisters.
The makeover included not just the cleaning or painting of the walls and corners of the house, but the sisters had thought of a lot more. They bought new furniture for the house, for which all of them pooled together. And that is when they realized that getting new furniture was far easier than disposing of the old ones.
Getting close to the midpoint of the strenuous task that the girls had undertaken, they felt like they were hitting their breaking point. But stopping and quitting at this point was not an option because the house was in shambles and not a single corner of the whole house was ready yet.
Each of the girls had taken over tasks that were beyond their expertise. They were prepared for the fact that they would have to do things that they had never done before in their lives, in order to complete the task that they had started.
There was hardly any time for the daughters to rest because time was passing by very quickly. Because of the condition of the house which was completely out of place, having a good night's sleep seemed impossible for the sisters.
The best thing for the sisters was that they were together in this plan. One would get energy drinks for the other, while one would overtake the work she thought she could do more easily than the other one. It was the team that was going to make it all possible for their parents.
The work seemed to be more difficult with each passing day and the tiredness kept increasing day by day. The girls recorded in their video how their legs had been sore because of all the standing and how their backs hurt because of lifting the furniture. But their love for their parents kept them going.
It was finally the day that Karen and Chip were going to return from their vacation. The girls had done all that they had planned of, from painting to new carpets, to new furniture. They were all very excited to give the best present to their parents.
The daughters planned that they could give their parents not one but two presents. The first one could be not the newly decorated house, but Heather. Her visit to the house would be the first surprise that their parents would get.
Hollie held the camera in her hands and had already started recording the morning their parents were supposed to arrive. "We are so nervous!", she whispered into the camera. They wanted to make sure that every little detail of their parents' expressions was caught on the camera.
As soon as Karen and Chip arrived, Karen was the first one to notice a change in the house from the outside. Her first question was, "Alright, who cleaned?" And then she saw Heather standing with her three sisters which made her all the more excited!
As was planned, Heather hugged her mother and father and told them, "Your surprise isn't over yet." Confused, the parents starting walking towards the home, hoping all was well inside their home. They had no idea what was to come.
The sisters asked their parents to take a deep breath before opening the door of the house. Karen and Chip looked at each other and held hands before walking any further. Proceeding towards the house, both went ahead, to get their minds completely blown.
As soon as Karen looked at the house, her first word was, "What!" She couldn't believe what she was seeing and felt like she had come to some other world. "What did you do!" she shouted in excitement and disbelief that the girls could do so much on their own.
Karen and Chip could see that the children had not only cleaned and painted the place, but they had also converted the kitchen into a modern kitchen. Tears came running down Karen's eyes as she saw how much effort her daughters had put in to give them a surprise.
The daughters were happy that their hard work had paid off. Seeing their mother cry in astonishment and happiness, the girls felt really proud and the expression of accomplishment showered on their faces. They had succeeded in doing what they had wanted to do and had planned.
